Is it our obligations?

I finished college with the help of my Parents. They provided my education. They made me from what I am today. Thanks to them.
My mom died a year before I graduated. When I got my first job, I took care of my younger sister’s education. I gave her all the things she needed. I also gave money to some of my sister’s tuition fees when my father needed support.
Soon, one of my sister finished college but for two years, she didn’t looked for a job. And when she got one, I once asked her to support my sister’s last payment because I want to buy something for myself. She said it’s my responsibility because I studied my whole life in private school and that I’m earning big. Since when it became my obligations?! I made a choice but it’s not my responsibility.
When do you stop supporting others? When do you say it’s over? When do you start supporting yourself? I could have bought a brand new car, instead I got an old 2nd hand car. I could have more gadgets. I could have traveled a lot. I could have own a house and lot.
I guess these things happen to every Filipinos. It’s like, it became our culture to help our parents, siblings and sometimes, our nieces. It’s very different from US culture. There, when you’re 18, you have to take care of yourself. Your parents are no longer responsible to you.
When the time come, I’ll have my own family. I don’t want this to happen to my children. I will save money for their educations. When they finished school, I want them to prepare themselves for their future so they can have more and better lives. I think, that’s how it should be.
