Introducing, my Online Portfolio site! It took me months to decide what my portfolio site would look like and how it should function. It’s actually been online since Feb 2010 but I’m still working on it so I don’t want it to be published (naks, feeling!). Read More »

This was unexpected. When I saw my friend’s upcoming fashion show status in facebook, I contacted Mark immediately to get a guest-list for two. It was the night before the fashion show when I saw this so we’re happy to get listed. I wanted to go there so I can get a photo of the models for free and so I can practice also shooting in manual mode.

Never thought photo shooting in a bar would be so challenging when you don’t want to use your built-in flash. And an external flash would be more appropriate to use but I don’t own it yet. What’s more difficult was the lights were moving so you can’t have a good shot of the light and I get blurred shots. Using manual mode was even harder that you have to be fast enough to get a good shot of the models because they’re moving a lot. Good thing I brought my fast lens, if not, my shots would be more blurred.

My Photography Workshop (1st & 2nd Sessions)

In our first session, Jason De Guzman (our mentor) talked about the history; the basic and it’s importance. He discussed the brief history of how photography started. Syempre, I don’t want to go into detail about it pero ang isa sa pinaka tumatak sa akin eh yung “Kodak” pala, was the one who invented Digital Camera. Kaso they we’re so into film at sobrang dun sila kumikita kaya they didn’t buy into the idea. At paglipas ng panahon, natabunan na sila ng Canon and Nikon at maraming pang iba.

Photography is a combination of technical and art. Learning the basic of photography is very important. You won’t be able to produce a good quality photo if you don’t know how to use your camera. So the first thing to do when you buy your own camera is to read the manual. I already knew how to use my camera except for the “Manual Mode” and proper exposure.

Practicing Manual Mode

Before, I just shoot using the automatic mode of aperture and shutter which is helpful din naman if you don’t know how to use the manual. But upon learning the manual mode, I think it’s better to shoot in this mode because you have more control over your exposure. And like what jason said, the camera should give you the output of what you envisioned. The camera is the tool to give you the end result of what you want to see in the picture. So using this mode would give you more freedom to express yourself.
